Whereas hate speech, threats, and crimes against places of worship are already illegal under the Criminal Code;

Whereas hate motivation is already considered in sentencing;

Whereas Bill C-9 removes the religious freedom safeguard from the Criminal Code;

Whereas Bill C-9 lowers the legal threshold for “hatred,” risking the targeting of lawful expression;

Therefore, we, the undersigned, call on the Senate of Canada to amend Bill C-9 to stop the Liberal attack on religious freedom, restore safeguards, and protect freedom of expression.
